About BetterCardSource
A tool built out of frustration, for players who just want a better way to get the cards they want.
Hi, I'm Semosh
I've been playing Magic for a little over a year and I'm hooked on the variety of formats. I play Standard, Modern, Pauper, Commander, and just recently Pauper Commander.
BetterCardSource just is a side project. If you find it useful and want to help , a Ko-fi goes a long way. Currently im on the free tier of everything, so cost are low, but who knows...
☕ Support on Ko-fiWhy I built this
One of the most frustrating things I kept running into as a new Magic player was searching for a card, seeing it was printed in a precon set, but not knowing if it actually came in a precon then having no easy way to know which of the two decks that share its color identity.
That frustration drove me to build BetterCardSource. I wanted a single place where you could look up any card and instantly see every precon it appears in — so you know whether buying sealed is actually worth it over buying singles.
About the data
Sealed product prices come from two sources. TCGPlayer is the primary source — prices are matched by product ID where available, giving accurate per-product market prices. Mana Pool provides a secondary sealed price and a low price for comparison. Both are refreshed automatically on a weekly schedule.
Card-level prices (for individual singles within a precon) come from Scryfall, which aggregates TCGPlayer market data. Singles buy links point directly to the card's page on Mana Pool or TCGPlayer where a product match exists.
